Carbs, often been a topic of discussion when talking of a weight loss diet, while some people are able to happily stick to a low carb diet, some find it difficult to resist carbs and some are still looking out for answers. I’ve been in all three categories at some point of time and sharing my piece of information basis the little research and knowledge that I have gathered over a period of time

▶️ Types of carbs – 1. Simple carbs : foods that consist glucose, fructose, table sugar 2. Complex carbs : foods that consist of dietary fiber and starches.
▶️ Quality source of carbs are complex carbs which consists of whole grain foods (eg oats, buckwheat, brown rice, quinoa, whole wheat bread, bulgur etc) beans, vegetables, fruits. Whole and unprocessed carbs slowly raise the glucose levels and make us feel fuller for long.
▶️ Simple or Refined carbs are processed, easy to digest, raises glucose levels faster therefore results in promoting hunger, over eating and cravings.
▶️ The ideal way would be to eat the right carbs, i.e. good carbs and most importantly be wise of the quantity being consumed.
▶️ Construct a healthy plate, 1/2 filled with veggies, 1/4 with whole grains and 1/4 with protein (veg or non-veg)
▶️ Not all carbs are bad, go for carbs that contain whole foods and are loaded with fiber.
